Your camera either shipped with v1.00 or v1.01 (mine was the latter) and Fuji has now given us a v1.10 upgrade with the battery issues addressed and an issue with the LCD display shifting into USB mode addressed.
Sadly, no mention of video issues. Too bad … anyway, click here.
Following the directions on the linked web site *exactly* with respect to power. The cam is either plugged in, or it is powered with a fresh battery. This is not a joke … don’t play fast and loose and end up with an expensive brick.
One thing that I chose not to do as Fuji suggested is to use their specialized application to dump the firmware DAT file on the card. For that, I formatted the card in the camera and then removed it and loaded it into a card reader. I then dragged the DAT file into the top level of the card and put it back into the camera. Worked perfectly.
The progress is slow … a couple of minutes at least.
No glitches whatsoever.
